Spent 12 seasons with SKC from 2009-2020
Matt served as club captain for each of his final seven seasons with Sporting Kansas City
He ranks third in club history with 294 appearances in MLS and also third in club history in total appearances in all competitions with 348
Won the 2013 MLS Cup with Sporting Kansas City
Also won the 2012, 2015 and 2017 US Open Cup titles with SKC
Besler was a five-time MLS All-Star (2011, 2013-2016)
He was named to the MLS Best XI in 2012 and 2013, and was also awarded the MLS Defender of the Year award in 2012
The defender also represented the USMNT, earning 47 caps as well as starting all four matches in the 2014 World Cup
He was named a Sporting Legend in 2025
